Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Wise Wojak: Habit Game iPhone app (the "App"). The short version: there are no accounts, your habits and progress stay on your device, and we collect a limited set of anonymous usage events to improve the App. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.
1. Information stored only on your device
The App stores everything you enter on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device storage. This includes your display name, onboarding answers (such as goals, habits you want to change, and gender), habits and their completion history, tasks, focus sessions and notes, streaks, in-game currency, levels, and your apartment layout. We do not receive this data, and it is not uploaded to our servers or to iCloud.
If you use Export Data in Settings, the App creates a JSON file and passes it to the location you choose (for example Files or AirDrop). What happens to that file after that is up to you.
2. Information we collect
Anonymous usage analytics
We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to see how people move through the App so we can fix problems and improve it. When analytics is active, the App sends:
- A random identifier. The App generates a random ID on your device when you first set it up (shown in Settings → Account as "User ID"). It is not linked to your name, email, Apple ID, or advertising identifier.
- In-app events. Examples: onboarding screens viewed and completed, paywall viewed, a subscription plan selected, purchase started, succeeded, cancelled or failed, restore purchases, habit completed (difficulty and reward only), focus session completed or cancelled (mode and length), shop item bought or placed, level reached, and the first app open each day with your login streak.
- Profile labels. A few onboarding answers sent as fixed labels or counts: gender option, commitment level, number of goals, and a 1–5 life-satisfaction rating.
- Device and technical data that the analytics service collects automatically, such as device model, iOS version, App version, language, time zone, and screen size. The service also receives your IP address when the App connects to it, and may use it to estimate an approximate location (country or city).
We do not send your name, the text of your habits, tasks or notes, or any free-text answers. We do not use session recording, and we do not use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment card or billing details. The App asks Apple whether you have an active subscription, and Apple gives us only aggregated, non-identifying sales reports. Purchase events (such as the plan chosen and whether a trial was used) are included in the analytics described above.
Early access waitlist
If you join the waitlist on our website, we store your email address, the date you signed up, a short tag for where you came from (for example a video QR code), your approximate country, and your device type (for example iPhone or Android). We use your email only to tell you when the App launches. It is stored with Cloudflare and is not sent to our analytics provider.
Website visits
When you open one of our short links or the waitlist page, or join the waitlist, we record an anonymous event in PostHog (the link used, approximate country and city, browser and device type, and referring page) so we can see how many people arrive. These events are not tied to your email or to the App's User ID.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply.
3. Device permissions
- Notifications. If you allow them, the App schedules habit reminders and focus-timer alerts on your device. These are local notifications. We do not use push notifications and do not send notification data off your device.
- Alarms (AlarmKit). On supported iOS versions, if you allow it, the App sets an alarm for when your focus timer ends. This is handled by iOS on your device.
You can change these permissions at any time in iPhone Settings.
4. How we use information
- To understand which features are used and where people get stuck, and to improve the App.
- To measure whether the onboarding and subscription screens work as intended.
- To diagnose problems and keep the App working.
- To respond to your messages.
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the App for analytics, and on performance of our contract with you for providing the App and any subscription.
5. Service providers
| Provider | Purpose | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog, Inc. (data hosted in the United States) | Product analytics | posthog.com/privacy |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Website hosting and waitlist storage | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Apple Inc. | App distribution, in-app purchases, subscriptions, ratings prompts | apple.com/legal/privacy |
These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of our business, in which case this policy would continue to apply to that information.
6. We do not sell or share your data for advertising
We do not sell personal information, we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising (as those terms are used in California law), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
7. International transfers
We are a United States company, and our analytics provider stores data in the United States. If you use the App from Canada, the EU/UK or elsewhere, your information will be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
8. Retention
- On-device data stays until you delete it or delete the App. Deleting the App removes it from your device.
- Analytics data is kept for as long as it is useful for improving the App, and no longer than 12 months. It is tied only to the random ID.
- Waitlist emails are kept until we have sent the launch announcement, then deleted. Email us to be removed sooner.
- Support emails are kept as long as needed to handle your request and keep a record of it.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, the CCPA in California, or PIPEDA in Canada), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of personal information about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
Because we do not know who you are, please include the User ID shown in Settings → Account when you contact us, so we can find and delete the analytics data linked to it. Email wojakimproves@gmail.com. We will respond within the time the law requires (usually 30 days). You may also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To remove all data stored in the App, delete the App from your iPhone.
10. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has used the App and we have data about them, contact us and we will delete it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the App only with a parent's or guardian's permission.
11. Security
Data sent to our analytics provider is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Data on your device is protected by iOS. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there is less to protect.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will give notice in the App or on this page before it takes effect.
